A Wild and Crazy Finish In Monterey
De Ferran, Bergmeister take Fans to Breathtaking
Finish

MONTEREY,
California (October 11, 2009) — They say on Radio Le Mans that it just
takes two cars to make a race, but Gil de Ferran found himself racing
everybody, classified and unclassified, to bring home his final victory as a
driver at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today. He and teammate Simon Pagenaud
fought off challenges from not only the championship-winning Tequila Patrón
Highcroft Acura, but Jon Field in the No. 37 Intersport Lola, Adrian
Fernandez in the No. 15 Lowes Fernandez Acura (a P2 car), and Guy Smith in
the No. 16 Dyson Lola Coupe, which was unclassified due to running an
experimental fuel! And at the end of the day it was very nearly a photo
finish: there was 0.662 between de Ferran and Fernandez as they streaked
across the line. Fernandez won the P2 class
victory, his 8th victory of the season, and the Michelin Green Challenge.
Shane Lewis, a well known name to race fans no matter what kind of racing
they watch, took the victory in Challenge Class, and Martin and Melanie Snow
held on for the Challenge Class championship. GT2 produced a warlike battle
to the end as, just like Sebring 2007, Jörg Bergmeister in the No. 45 Flying
Lizard Porsche and Jan Magnussen in the No. 3 Corvette took one more lap to
get it all sorted out, and this time the Lizard was victorious. Flying
Lizard gave Porsche its 100th class victory and themselves the second
consecutive class championship, and the fans a show that will be discussed,
no doubt, for a long time to come.

Hot Laps in Hot Cars –
RFM Sports Goes Touring Car Crazy

BRASELTON,
Georgia (September 22, 2009) — My late Dad, who was a Saturday Night
Dirt Track Speedway kind of guy, used to have a phrase to describe really
fast cars. “It takes three guys to see him,” he would say. “One to say
here he comes, one to say here he is and one to say there he
goes.”
On the Tuesday before the 12th Annual Petit Le Mans, select members of the
media were given the chance to see what that means from the inside of a
SPEED World Challenge Touring Car, one of the quickest ways around the 2.5
mile natural road course with more changes of elevation and direction than a
Six Flags Coaster.
